28in. sleeved nitro barrels retaining original rib (script worn), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke, action with Scott patent gas check system, patent no. 617 of 1882, automatic safety with inlaid 'SAFE' detail, border engraving, brushed bright finish overall, 14 5/8in. well-figured replacement stock, fore-end wood with minor repairs, weight 6lb. 8oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed in June 1898 for a "Paley", with a new pair of 30in. steel barrels fitted in December 1909
